Encouragement of insects, birds and amphibians
Description
Like Swales, ponds also control flood water and they are important in sustainable drainage schemes. But most important, they increase wildlife habitat dramatically. They will become home to amphibians, all sorts of flies, skaters and other insects, birds, perhaps wildfowl and even reptiles.
