The third quarter, MITIGATION, illustrates ways in which landscaping and design techniques can improve the habitat to the point of making climate change less severe.

Objective

The third quarter illustrates ways in which landscaping and design techniques can improve the habitat to the point of making climate change less severe.

Plan

The organization of sectors spins clockwise around the Universal Window Box through a series of sectors showing ways in which landscaping and horticulture can help ameliorate the degradation shown in the Decline quarter. The sectors relate directly to adverse conditions shown in A to E.

Spatial organization

Defined by the scaffold board path, the Liquidambar and the live hornbeam hedge, these sectors focus on the Cladrastis in the meadow behind the Universal window box. The grain of the plants follows the layout of the sectors, with a buildup of bigger trees and shrubs at the northern end. The quarter is anchored by a tree on the corner of the green front garden
